Fiverr reviews are a scam

Fiverr Reviews are a Scam? Separating Fact From Fiction and How Can You Find the Perfect Freelancer

As a small business owner, I always look for the best deal possible. Whether it’s work equipment, new office furniture or accounting services. Furthermore, when I look for subcontractors, there is a price-quality ratio analysis. That being said, you are doing the same when looking for marketing experts. Of course, the easiest thing to do is find the most popular company in the area and let them do the rest.

However, this is something that we as small business owners can’t do due to our budget limitations. But, as we live in an age where we can easily find solutions for such problems, we have platforms like Fiverr. This brings us to the next problem at hand, and it is… Can you trust reviews and freelancers from Fiverr? The short answer is yes, but for a deeper dive into this topic, stick to the end of the blog.

A good marketing expert can easily level up your brand’s recognition. At the same time, a bad one can create the opposite effect. That’s why I want to give the answer and help you understand if is it true that Fiverr reviews are a scam.

Fiverr Reviews Are a Scam? So Why do People Keep Coming Back?

Whenever Fiverr is mentioned, it’s always looked at from above from the “big players.” In some way, yes they are right, Fiverr will not offer the same level of marketing expertise as well well-renowned marketing agency with more than 50 years of experience. However, it also won’t charge you several ten thousand euros a month.

For small business owners like you, Fiverr is the perfect solution for a quick and easy search for freelancers that can fit into your budget. You can see at once what services (gigs) the person offers, what are their prices, their portfolio, and reviews from past customers. I just want to point one thing out before continuing.

Fiverr is a very buyer-oriented platform and you need to remember this. Buyers are people who hire freelancers from Fiverr and the Sellers are the freelancers who offer their services on Fiverr. So, when you say Fiverr reviews are a scam, take this into consideration. Sellers are under a massive magnifying glass and any scammy behavior is immediately recorded. Fake reviews are one of those things that are quickly spotted and the seller who tried this is banned or shadow banned from search.

To continue with the topic, after you choose your freelancer you get to the payment. Once again, Fiverr has your back. When you pay, your money does not go immediately to the freelancer. To get his money, the seller has to deliver work to you, and after you give the green light that all is good, the money is delivered. This way, you have total security that you will get your work done or you will get your money back.

Fiverr is a very popular platform with lots of buyers who keep coming back. If Fiverr really had fake and scammy practices, this wouldn’t be the case.

How to Check if Really Fiverr Reviews are a Scam?

We are more connected worldwide than ever before. This gives small business owners like us great opportunities. For me this is a chance to offer my marketing services internationally and for you to find people like me outside your country. Maybe there is more quality outside your area, maybe it is more affordable. Whatever the reason may be, Fiverr is a good platform to start looking at.

But, how to find a good and legit Fiverr freelancer?

1. Do Your Research

Fiverr is filled with freelancers. Graphics & Design, Programming & Tech, Digital Marketing and Video & Animation, are just a few categories you can choose from. Furthermore, there are a bunch of subcategories (with their own subcategories) for each one. So, there is a good chance that the service you need is available.

2. Give Beginners a Chance

You can look at this from two sides. First is the human side. As a small business owner you how hard was for you to make it at the beginning. But, there is also the business side of the matter. The beginner on Fiverr is not necessarily a beginner per se. That freelancer might be well-renowned and even might have a whole team behind him. Take me for example. I have 5 years of experience in the marketing and media industry. However, I decided to start my own agency and the easiest way for me to get clients outside my country was Fiverr. So, while I am a beginner on Fiverr, I am sure not a beginner in digital marketing.

What does this mean for you? Well, there is a chance you will get to work with an experienced person for a much lower price than he or she usually charges outside of Fiverr.

3. Go Through Reviews

Reviews are a great showcase of someone’s skills. Both in industry expertise and communication. As I mentioned earlier, fake reviews are quickly spotted by Fiverr. Of course, someone can pay a person to order from them and leave a review. This can be easily spotted. If you see repeating sentences, phrases that are non-ordinary, etc.

4. Look at Freelancer's Portfolio

If a freelancer doesn’t have any gig yet, and there are no reviews, go for the portfolio. Most Fiverr sellers have their work shown in gig images or in their portfolio section. This can be a great way to see their level of experience and skills.

5. Compare Packages (and Freelancers)

In the end, look at different freelancers and compare them. See which one is the best fit for you. Also, every freelancer has its price package. Look what are you getting for which price. Many freelancers on Fiverr offer custom packages which is always a good option.
