How Digital Marketing Works

How Digital Marketing Works? Only Strategy You Need For Sucess

Starting a business is no easy task. So I want to congratulate you as a business owner for taking that step. I know what you are going through because I went through all that when I started Fable & Vox. As a digital marketing agency owner and business owner, I can see why you are here. You want to know how to do digital marketing.

The Internet is full of “experts” with tons of tips and tricks that sound great. Yet, when you start implementing them you get overwhelmed.

  • “You need to do XY”
  • “This method will skyrocket your business”
  • “If you are not tracking XY you are wasting your time”

So many big words, yet so much BS. To save you the trouble, let me simplify things for you.

Honest Overview of Digital Marketing in 2024

Even I, a marketing agency owner, sometimes get overwhelmed with all the advice but here is the truth. Everyone who created a Instagram profile thinks he knows all about digital marketing. Some people make their money by telling you what to do, rather than ever doing it themselves. Everyone is an expert in everything nowadays.

The thing that annoys me most about digital marketing today is that on the one side, people describe it as easy. All they see is some text and image that is “easily made” or better yet, something AI can create. On the other hand, all the experts I mentioned describe it as some complex thing that is harder than coding.

People come on. It’s a skill, like any other skill. It doesn’t deserve to be downgraded and it doesn’t need to be overcomplicated. Guess what, for some people video works, and for others, a plain image is enough. There is no template, every brand needs different things.

So, considering all this, don’t be easily scared with all advice that you find out there

Digital Marketing Breakdown

What is not digital marketing?

It is not some easy Gen Z thing that can be done by anyone. Also, it is not rocket science presented by internet gurus.

What is digital marketing?

It’s the use of the internet, social media, search engines, and other channels. The goal is to reach consumers and promote products or services or to build a brand. This includes a wide range of activities. From website design and content creation to social media marketing.

Here’s a breakdown of the key components of digital marketing:

Content Marketing

This is the broadest part (also my personal favorite). Content is king and many small businesses ignore this. It involves creating and sharing valuable content. Such as blog posts, articles, infographics, and videos. By creating these, we want to attract and engage a target audience. The goal of content marketing is to establish thought leadership and build brand awareness. This will ultimately drive sales or conversions.

Content marketing includes copywriting, content writing, social media content creation, web design, email marketing, video editing, and graphic design. All of which can be found among Fable & Vox services.

SEO (Search Engine Optimization)

This is the practice of improving the ranking of a website on search engine results pages (SERPs). SEO involves optimizing website content and structure for relevant keywords. Furthermore, building backlinks from other websites. Also, improving the overall user experience of a website.

Social Media Marketing

This involves using social media platforms, like Facebook, Tik Tok, Instagram, and LinkedIn. The goal is to connect with potential and existing customers. Social media marketing can be used for lots of things. Such as promoting content, running contests and giveaways, and building brand awareness. It can be organic or paid. Although organic reach is pretty low right now, there are still ways to make results. Of course, with consistency and experts like us.

PPC Advertising (Pay-per-click)

This is a form of online advertising where businesses pay a fee each time someone clicks on their ad. PPC ads can be displayed on search engines, social media platforms, and other websites.

Email Marketing

This involves sending emails to a list of subscribers to promote products or services. Share news and updates, and build relationships with customers. Email marketing can be a very effective way to reach a targeted audience and drive sales. This is managed in email marketing tools such as MailChimp, Klaviyo, MailerLite, etc.

How to Make Your Ideal Strategy

An “ideal” strategy might look different depending on the situation. However, there are some general steps you can follow to craft a strong plan:

1. Define Your Goals:

What do you want to achieve?  Be clear and specific. Is it to increase sales by 20%, launch a new product successfully, or improve brand awareness?

2. Identify Your Audience:

This is important, so pay attention. Who are you trying to reach? Understanding their demographics, interests, and online behavior will help tailor your strategy.

3. Research and Analyze

What’s the current landscape? Look at your competition, industry trends, and what’s working (or not working) for similar businesses.

4. Brainstorm Options

Get creative! Consider different approaches and tactics that could help you reach your goals.

5. Choose the Best Path

Not all ideas are created equal. Evaluate each option based on feasibility, resources, and potential return on investment (ROI).

6. Make it Actionable

Break down your strategy into specific steps with timelines and ownership. Who will do what and by when?

7. Monitor and Adapt

The best plans are flexible. Track your progress, analyze results, and be ready to adjust your strategy as needed.
